Sleep boosts brain’s self-cleaning system

NewScientist: Sleep boosts brain’s self-cleaning system

I found this article to be very enlightening. For one, it reaffirms the importance of getting enough sleep (something we all are lacking these days) and Secondly, it explains a phenomenon that I have observed in myself and in my staff when we had done the Standard Process Purification Program in past years. I found that when I was on the 21-day program, I could get by on 4-5 hours of sleep and still function at a high level the next day. This article explains why that is possible – By enhancing the body’s ability to cleanse itself of metabolic wastes, one’s need for sleep is reduced – at least in my experience.

p.s. I take exception with the article’s author over the idea that learning about the body’s new systems is useful for the development of new drugs – How about we learn to enhance the body without resorting to drugs for a change?
